HEATING CURVE OF NAPHTALENE
Stage A
• Particles absorb heat
• The kinetic energy increase
• Particles vibrate faster
• The temperature continues to increase
Stage B
• Temperature does not change at 80 degree celcius
• Because the heat supplied is absorb to overcome the attaraction forces between molecules
• This called latent heat of fusion
Stage C
• Particles absorb heat
• The kinetic energy increase
• Particles vibrate faster
• The temperature continues to increase
COOLING CURVE OF NAPHTALENE
Stage D
• Particles lose energy
• The kinetic energy decrease
• Particles vibrate slower
• The temperature continues to decrease
Stage E
• Temperature does not change at 80 degree celcius
• Because the heat supplied is released during the formation of the attaraction forces between molecules is equal to the heat lost to surroundings
• This called latent heat of fusion
Stage F
• Particles continue to lose energy
• The kinetic energy decrease
• Particles move slower until they are closer to each other.
• The temperature continues to decrease
